The BASIS “Developing Youth and Rural Organisations in Cumbria” project is a three year project funded by the BIG Lottery Fund, bringing ACTion with Communities in Cumbria, Cumbria Youth Alliance and Young Cumbria together to support voluntary and community sector organisations supporting children and young people and rural communities throughout Cumbria.
Dedicated project officers within each of the 3 partner organisations have developed workshops and training sessions based on organisational needs.

The support services include areas around governance and trustee responsibility, business and project planning, safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and the achievement of relevant quality standards.
Brian Le Voi the CYA Basis Project Officer will be able to give Governance customised
support on areas such as:-
• Roles and responsibilities of trustees
• Financial planning and monitoring effectiveness
• Trustee as the employer
• What makes an effective board
• Developing a trustee induction programme
• Running effective meetings
• Advice with being an employer and volunteer responsibilities
• Help with Charity Commission and Company House returns
This support can be one to one meetings or as a workshops before or after normal board meetings.
