Journey Of Youth

We, Cheryl, Chris and Laura would like to introduce the Peer Health Project in Cumbria.
In a nutshell the project’s aim is to provide the following opportunities:

n
‘Having a voice’ on Health Issues that the group decide to be important.
n
Having a voice on how the project runs through involvement in its steering group/ committee.
n
Being involved in the steering group to support the Project’s Management.
n
Talking to peers about health issues and providing informal education.
n
Awareness of current health research adding to it where is necessary.
n
Awareness of current regional/ national health policy and considering why this is important.
n
Accredited training in topics that will be tailored to group or individuals needs.

Other potential areas of involvement could be the marketing, administration and involvement with the projects finances for example. There is also a strong intention and expectation to complete video resources and training activities to enhance (yet not duplicate) the way Risk Taking Behaviour is worked with, particularly within our member organisations. Visit our peer led website HERE.

This project provides great opportunity to increase personal skills and development for a young person. It can be built to complement other involvements (say D of E for example) as part of a package of support to a young person. The voluntary commitment is negotiable with the individual. We work with Vinvolved to accredit and recognise the young person’s commitment.

The young people have particularly enjoyed, and are committed to considering the causes of risk taking behaviour issues and will provide a respected additional health resource in Cumbria.

This page helps provide some information on Health Project opportunities for young people (age 14 -24) available through Cumbria Youth Alliance. Please use the pdf version of our power point resource HERE.
EXCITING TIMES ARE HERE AND THERE IS SURE TO BE MORE AHEAD!
