Project Worker

Salary range £21500-£23000 pro rata

Cumbria Youth Alliance seeks to appoint a Project Worker 30 hours per week to deliver a number of different programmes supporting young people who are in the care system or who have recently left care across Cumbria. The post will work closely with partners in Cumbria County Council and The Share Foundation to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for the young people. The post will provide one to one support for participants ( aged 15-17)  undertaking the Step Ladder of Achievement  on line learning modules and provide mentoring to ensure positive outcomes are achieved for the young person. In addition the post holder will identify and work with young people who have left or are leaving care 16-24) to identify suitable training opportunities, work trials, work experience, volunteering opportunities  and find suitable destinations for the young people. In addition they will signpost young people to other services to address any additional support needs that the young person may have. This will ensure a holistic support service for the young people. This is a pilot project offered initially on a one year fixed term contract which may be renewed if successful and achieves the required outcomes and outputs.  Ideally you will have experience of working with this client group and understand the challenges that young people face as they make their way to independent living and adulthood.  You will have a good working knowledge of what is available in the local communities and have experience of multi agency working

This post will require evening and weekend working to meet the needs of young people and a flexible working system is in place for staff within Cumbria Youth Alliance. The post holder will be required to travel independently throughout Cumbria for which a generous mileage allowance is paid.  The post is subject to enhanced DBS and supply of suitable references one of which must be your most recent employer.
