In a remarkable celebration of 60 years dedicated to empowering young people, the Francis C Scott Charitable Trust is thrilled to introduce the Break the Mould Young People Grant Programme. This momentous initiative invites local young people to take the reins and allocate £60,000 towards community projects that matter most to them. Supported by Cumbria Youth Alliance and Lancaster District CVS, this grant programme is set to make a profound impact on the lives of young people living in the Cumbria and Lancaster districts.
Trailblazing Youth Take the Lead
In May, a group of 20 young people aged between 16 and 24 living in the Trust's beneficiary areas in Cumbria and Lancaster embarked on a journey to design and oversee the grant programme. These dynamic young leaders are poised to distribute the £60,000 throughout September to January 2023. These remarkable young people came together to brainstorm ideas, foster teamwork, and prepare for the planning and delivery of the programme. “I love being part of the project as it has hugely increased my confidence and I have learned a multitude of skills that will be invaluable in my future career plans.” Break the Mould team member. “The scheme has been completely designed by young people which I find amazing- our voices are finally being listened to.” Break the Mould team member. “As a group of young people we came together as we all want to make a difference to our community. We hope that through the project we can create lasting positive change.” Break the Mould team member.
A Community-Driven Initiative
With the official launch of the Break the Mould Young People Grant Programme in September 2023, the young leaders will meet monthly for deliberations and group meetings. Their valuable insights and expertise will guide crucial decisions regarding the allocation of resources, ensuring the funds reach young people living in their communities. These passionate young trailblazers will also have access to top-tier training, skill enhancement opportunities, and support in nurturing their ideas and personal or professional goals. To further their growth, each participant will receive £100 towards a valuable personal investment, whether it's training, obtaining a passport, or acquiring professional attire
