AW was referred to the Forging Futures project by their work coach from Penrith Job centre.
having been out of work for close to a year.
We initially focused on realistic goal setting, basic CV writing, key skills and career aspirations. AW wanted to explore options relating to administration roles, but also showed an interest in social care.
Working with the local health authority Cumbria Youth Alliance were made aware of training opportunities to attend a local Introduction to the NHS programme.
This helped her gain experience and qualifications relating to care. AW really enjoyed the programme and applied for a role as an adult support worker. She was offered a position upon successful completion of course.
AW has been working in this role for close to a month now and is completing an additional Care Certificate whilst in the role.
Quotes from our last exchanged texts ‘It’s going brilliant, I love it’ ‘ Smashing my care certificate, could be done in the next two weeks’ ‘ The people I’m supporting are amazing and so are the staff! I should have done this a year ago.’
