Brighter Futures is an initiative that supports care-experienced young people on their journey towards independence and sustainable employment. Funded for three years, Brighter Futures brings Cumbria Youth Alliance and Inspira into partnership with Cumbria Community Foundation to address the challenges faced by care-experienced young people in Cumbria.
By working collaboratively with local authorities, third-sector organisations and local businesses, Cumbria Youth Alliance and Inspira will help care-experienced young people transition into adulthood while ensuring they don’t ‘fall through the gaps.’
Through two key phases, the programme will empower young people to overcome challenges and build a brighter future by providing tailored support, training, and work experience.
Firm Foundation Phase
Led by Cumbria Youth Alliance, this phase focuses on building emotional resilience, social skills and raising aspirations through one-to-one mentoring and skills-based activities.
Flourish Phase
Led by Inspira, this phase transitions the young people towards becoming work-ready, including identifying suitable work placements, training opportunities, and employment prospects.
Over three years, Brighter Futures will support care-experienced young people by:
