Bushcraft Skills

Reconnect with nature, build confidence, and gain essential survival skills.

Our Bushcraft Skills programme is a hands-on experience for young people that promotes personal development, teamwork, and resilience through outdoor learning.

What is it?

Delivered as part of our HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) provision, this free, full-day bushcraft session invites young people to step away from the digital world and immerse themselves in nature.

Led by experienced outdoor facilitators, the session covers:

  • Shelter building using natural materials
  • Fire lighting techniques and fuel preparation
  • Knife safety and woodcraft skills
  • Outdoor cooking over a campfire
  • Environmental learning
  • Participants will gain confidence, build friendships, and learn practical skills in a safe and supportive setting.

Who is it for?

This activity is aimed at young people in Cumbria, particularly those eligible for free school meals or facing barriers to engagement. No previous experience is necessary - just a willingness to try something new and enjoy the outdoors.

It’s perfect for:
